No, I do not want to build a snowman.

Frozen.

I used to like Frozen.

When taking Esther to see it for the first time in the cinema it was wonderful. I instantly loved the score, the songs and the animation. The story itself was quite high peril. Esther, who had a new baby brother, was distraught at the lack of sibling compassion and loneliness of Anna. We had tears in the cinema, loud anguished shouts of, 'Why can't they see each other anymore?' - 'Why doesn't Elsa love Anna?' As her first feature movie cinema experience, it was a bumpy ride.

I was offering my assurances of a happy ending, based on my years of Disney knowledge. Usually it's all okay. (I mean, there is always the possibility of death. Think Lion King, Bambi, and Kocoum in Pocahontas.) Finally resolved, no eternal winter, true love and sisterhood!

Caught up in the whirlwind, we bought the DVD and soundtrack as soon as they came out.

I don't know if it possible to be addicted to a soundtrack but all the symptoms Esther is displaying point towards an obsession.

Easter

What a weekend! We said in our last post that we wanted to make Easter a big deal in our family, and this year we've done just that. Amazing company, amazing food, amazing weather and some new traditions that we hope to carry on with our little ones.

Friday

In traditional Bank Holiday mode, Esther and I (Adam) went to buy compost and garden things on Friday morning, and spent a couple of hours in the sun planting up our new (and only slightly wonky) raised veg bed. I even mowed the lawn, but had to stop when the mower started smoking. Twice.

The afternoon was spent in Ellesmere Port, with a bunch of people from Vineyard 53, giving out free chocolate eggs (of course) and drinks. It was surprisingly hot, so squash proved more popular than tea, but good times were had by all. The giveaway is part of an ongoing series of 'Love in Action' events organised by our church. Through Love in Action we want to demonstrate to people that Jesus loves them, through a variety of practical and fun ways. We also love to meet new people, and were happy to bring some smiles to faces.

Spring, mud, museums and Easter

Spring has sprung and here in the Kirkup household things have also taken a swing in the right direction. Adam now has a job! It’s for the ASOS of the furniture world. It involves writing product descriptions for a website, at the moment the staff room is a kettle on the floor but a job is a job.
